Welcome to my writings or rants or whatever. Primarily these pages contain content of particular relevance to people in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
There are some links on the right which people in Saint Paul might find helpful.
If you feel inspired enough to publicly [although the particular public is not very big] comment on anything I have written, a place is provided. PLEASE GIVE ME A NAME OF YOUR CHOICE [as long as you don't use somebody else's] AND YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD [to help give identity and establish perspective]. I reserve the right to continue to delete as I see fair and proper.

Should prosecutors and sheriffs choose judges?
There may be several small posts in the next few days dealing with post-election and post-campaign matters. There is not shortage of places to read pontifications on some of the big things, so I will try to get light on some of the things few others seem to notice.
From a MinnPost article by Joe Kimball on the election of Gail Chang Bohr to a RamseyCounty judgeship we are reminded that she had the endorsements of many big names.Names like Mondale and McCollum are one thing, but doesn’t anybody get just a little queasy at seeing the names of the county attorney and the sheriff on there. We are entering a new era of political involvement on judicial elections and we don’t always know how we will always navigate the new waters, but involving officials so close to the operation of the court system in this process can create a few questions.
If you think there is something I have neglected to cover you may send an email to minnmusic [at]yahoo[.]com.If it makes it past my SPAM filters I may copy and paste it into a post. However, I do not consider it my purpose to publicize your email address, so I will not post that.

Ray Sammons, sexagenarian resident of Saint Paul Minnesota’s East Side.
I put my public affairs observations [focused on Saint Paul and Minnesota] on Capitol City Musings and I put other things [mostly matters with no geographical specificity or of lower gravity] on Ray's Leaky Pen.
These are provided for convenience. Suggestions for relevant additions are welcome.
The Government Link section is fairly self-explanatory.
The Saint Paul Organizations Link section contains citizen or civic organizations located in the city and serving city residents and businesses.
The Capitol City Area media links section includes links to mainstream media sites [radio, television, and print] as well as links to web sites which seem to primarily imitate these mainstream media. The Local/regional material with a cause or a political purpose section contains links to sites which which seem to be more orientated to specific causes or political purposes than mainstream media and their imitators. It is not designed to be left or right, red or blue, but does reflect what has come to my attention and which seems to meet the criteria.
The Religious Community Links section shows places in Saint Paul which offer conventional religious opportunities.
The Other links section has links which a reader might find useful but are not specific enough to the Capitol City or which do not fit well into one of the other sections.
The Restaurant list shows places which a working person might be able to patronize once in a while. I have also limited this list to places of which I am not aware of any voluntary violation of human rights. Warning: An asterisk "*" indicates either a restaurant which was not open on 3/30/05 or which I had not visited before 3/30/05.
